UGG Boots

I have never been one of those people that claim to understand fashion, but then again I don’t dress like a twat nor am I a fashion victim. I find a whole lot of fashion trends ridiculous but the one that’s really just made me facepalm a lot is the rise in the popularity of UGG Boots.

UGG boots are sheepskin boots with wool inner lining and similar boots have been use by Chinese and Inuits for years and years. A couple of years ago UGG boots started coming out in Australia and then moved out to pretty much everywhere. They have been popular since 2000 but blew up in 2008 when every other celebrity duchebags started wearing these and following that they became the new “in thing”…

Now on to why I hate UGG Boots. First off they look ridiculous in the context that they have become popular, they are being used by fashion victims in their name-brand clothes so much out of the context of their original use of keeping people warm in severe weather condition (talking about the sheepskin boots not UGG boots). Whenever it’s 10-15 degrees centigrade outside and I see girls wearing these boots so out of context with their originally usage I just can’t help thinking about them looking like twats…

Here is an example of celebs that promote these evil “shoes”:

And some regular twats (yes I’ve seen girls dressed like that):

When I started writing this I hated UGG boots but after doing a bit of research on them I don’t hate them any more I loath them… These things apparently cost £150-300 (although you can get knock off brands for way less). They aren’t meant as winter shoes like everyone who promotes them says, they were originally meant to be slippers and used in doors and as such they have really soft soles which are not waterproof and get easily wrecked. Michael O’Neill, from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists says the soft materials in the soles can cause the foot not to be held in position and cause a lowering of the arch, which can cause tendon strain.

The arguments for their use tends to be that they are comfortable, warm and useful in cold weather…. But as per above they aren’t built for comfortability and aren’t waterproof so they are useless in snow or heavy rain for that matter. You who wear them most likely just do so because you are a slave to fashion. Ugly ass fashion in my opinion (UGG is even derived from the word UGLY) but then again I don’t know anything about fashion.
